Customer Reviews — [1] Rating: 4 Date: 2010-02-18 Summary: What's not to love? ... Good old Makita! My only real criticism of this package is the LED light on the drill. It's sort of marginally useful due to its location and casts a very annoying "V" shaped shadow upward from the bit. However, this still beats the hell out of my 1995-vintage 9.6v Makita drill that has no light. Also, the included old-school incandescent work light casts a weak, yellowish light and is of little value in my opinion and I've never used it, but some folks might like it I suppose. I pay extra for the amazon prime membership. I ordered this product at 4:40 pm and payed for the extra 3.99 for overnight shipping. I received the package by 11:00 am the next day. I bought this combo kit to replace my 18 volt Dewalt combo kit because the batteries were not holding up and I didn't want to spend the money on new batteries. After plenty of trips to the big box stores I decided that the Makita was the way to go because of battery life, ballance, and weight of the tool. I have only used it for a couple of projects but I could tell it out performed my old tools hands down. I hope it lasts as long as my old Dewalt tools. The impact drive is especially powerful, and would highly recommend getting the combo, as the extra cost is totally worth it. The only complaint I have is that the trigger distance between slow and full speed is very small. This isn't too big of a problem because of the speed selector (on the drill), but I takes a little getting used to after using a NiCd for many years. And there is very little drop off in power when the batteries get close needing recharge. The 30 minute charger is great and gives a status of charge. The keyless chuck grips very tightly. This is the first "driver" I have owned. I was not sure if I needed one. I am using the heck out of it everyday. My only surprise was the sudden loss of power, when the battery is spent. Cordless combo related help/definitions
Conductivity - The rate at which heat is transmitted through a material.
Delamination - Separation of the plies in a panel due to failure of the adhesive. Usually caused by excessive moisture.
Firebrick - Highly heat-resistant brick for lining fireplaces and boilers.
Grain - The direction of fibers in lumber or other materials.
Ground iron - The plumbing drain and waste lines that are installed beneath the basement floor. Cast iron was once used, but black plastic pipe (ABS) is now widely used.
Panel - Wood, glass, plastic, or other material set into a frame, such as in a door. Also, a large, flat, rectangular building material such as plywood, hardboard, or drywall.
Premium - Amount payable on a loan.
Rafter - Lumber used to support the roof sheeting and roof loads. Generally, 2 X 10's and 2 X 12's are used. The rafters of a flat roof are sometimes called roof joists.
Run - The horizontal distance a ramp or stairway traverses. Also see rise.
Semigloss paint or enamel - A paint or enamel made so that its coating, when dry, has some luster but is not very glossy. Bathrooms and kitchens are normally painted semi -gloss
Wafer board - A manufactured wood panel made out of 1" - 2" wood chips and glue. Often used as a substitute for plywood in the exterior wall and roof sheathing.
