Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2010-01-08 Summary: Great power for a great price! ... I have used this drill/driver for over a year now and I hope to get another one soon. It has PLENTY of power for what I do. I have built and assembled complete kitchens with this tool and never ran out of power with two batteries. Good speed control with the trigger, convenient direction reversal buttons, and a very adjustable clutch. 12V is plenty and gives this drill a nice balance between power and size/weight. Fits into most tight spots. Don't know what I did before I bought this great powerhouse. ...more
[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2009-10-19 Summary: This drill is perfect for my needs. Small yet powerful! ... I have had a DeWalt drill for some time. I really like the chuck design which makes placing a drill bit or screw driver bit easy and almost a one-handed operation. The stop when power is shut off is a nice touch as well. The rugged good looks and attractive design seem to be just right. This new drill is smaller in size but just as powerful as my last DeWalt drill. My son now has my first drill and I have the new smaller version. ...more
[3] Rating: 5 Date: 2009-09-12 Summary: No surprises ... It meets all expectations. Nothing significant will disappoint you with one caveat. There is a small light that comes on when the trigger is slightly depressed. It does not light the tip area of the driver as it should. The chuck casts a shadow exactly where you need the light. I seldom need the light but when I do it isn't there. It may work better if you can use an extension. If the light is important to you it will be your only disappointment. ...more

Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2009-01-19 Summary: Dewalt DC988KA 18 Volt Ice Auger Power Source ... I bought this cordless to use with a 6" Lazer ice Auger. My expectations were based on other ice fisherman recommendations. I was pleasantly surprised and satisfied with the results. The Dewalt was able to handle the job easily. I used an Beaver Bay 10" long adapter between the auger cutting head and the drill, but added a strap, just in case the auger pulled free of the drill (problem for some I talked to). I found that I could drill about 10 - 15 holes on a charged battery, depending on the ice depth of 10 - 18 inches. ...more
[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2007-07-10 Summary: I think it's great ... I do low voltage installations, I use this mostly for intercom/entry installations. I have been on my own 7 years and am now on my 2nd one. I ABUSE them pretty good. I have used it to drill 1/2 holes through new brick(I know go through the morter, but cant always do that) I have put 3/4 holes through cement block. Used a 2 1/2 hole saw through 2x4...OK get the idea. I'm not saying anyone should do more than it's rated for, but lets face it in real life sometimes things happen This is something every one should own, ...more
[3] Rating: 5 Date: 2009-09-20 Summary: A workhorse ... I use this drill every day. I actually have several on the site along with a lot of other DW 18volt tools. You could definitely say that a lighter model like the 14volt DeWalt is more convenient for drywalling. And the hammerdrill function is only useful for very light work, like drilling the occasional anchor hole in brick. It is absolutely not a substitute for a real hammerdrill, even a small one like the Bosch bulldog. Nonetheless, it's very handy to have a drill like this in your holster. It can do 95% of what ...more

[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2007-11-05 Summary: Handyhunk ... I have haven't had the dewalt a long time, but I bought it for a tile job that I was doing. I was installing Marble tile in a bathroom and had to drill over twenty holes in the shower and wall tile. The drill has a lot of power and performed beautifully. I had only one scare with it and that was when it just quit working. I thought it overheated, but I gave the chuck and tap inward and the drill started working again and has worked ever since. It was a great value and the shipping was on time and packaged very well. ...more
