Using both products together really got the job done. He has used the bits to drill through 2 1/2 inch pipe to create a "portable" corral/loading area for out cattle. The Sears version accepts a 1/2" square drive, and fits into 1-1/16" sockets. With the Sears version of this tool, you are able to get a lot more power behind breaking that bolt free. I have used the Sears version with a 1/2" breaker bar, 1/2" impact driver, and a huge 1-1/16" wrench. So if Sears offers the same socket sizes, why get this one? If a fastener was rusted, stuck, or stripped; you need all the power you can get, right? ...more

I had tried the Grip-Tite and had no success, I tried the 3/8" Bolt Grip socket and it slipped off also. I was about to give up and then I realized with the Irwin design I could set the teeth of the socket by tapping it on. I had it on a foot long extension and used a hammer to tap the socket on, attached a long handled ratchet and SUCCESS.
