It works as promised, and makes a moderately loud noise if the door is moved/opened enough to trigger the mechanism. I am not sure about how much it adds to our home's security, as the same action on the door will trigger the alarm that is wired to alert the alarm company and sets off a very loud alarm in the house itself. This may be best for someone who does not have a centrally monitored alarm. One other advantage is that it strengthens the door by making it ...more

Good for an apartment but it's a little difficult to hear in a two story house. Also drains the battery really fast (less than two weeks). Does make me more secure at night knowing that it's up against the front door. ...more

I highly recommend the Door Guardian for your home security needs. The installation was very simple; however, I had to use shorter screws on the wood door frame. The 3" screws were way too long for my situation - I believe the 1.5 or 2" screws from Home Depot work just as good. I had placed mine approx. 6" above the dead bolt lock. I also have one of those door guards that hold up against the door knob and the floor. ...more
[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2009-04-02 Summary: great product, make sure to screw into your studs for maximum effectiveness ... well designed product. this lock can only be locked from inside your home, and cannot be unlocked from outside. i have one on each exterior door (12 doors) so I do trust them to work. you are provided with 2 2" screws and a few smaller screws for installation. My sugesstion is to make sure you drive the screws into the stud adjacent to your door frame...the door frame alone will not be strong enough to stop a forced intrusion (i know this from experience). so if you need to purchase longer screws, I suggest you do ...more

It is easy to setup (less than 5 minutes) and is a good deterrent. I sleep better at night knowing it is there.
