In all likelihood, the only problem these folks are up against is an excessive oxide layer on the metal probe. My rigid, single piece unit has the same probe and you only need to give it a good scrubing with a Scotch Brite pad to resurrect a "dead" or mis-reading probe (a small pad was included with mine). As far as being a "light meter", where is it saying this thing is for that purpose?!? Duh!!! Seems some people give up way too ...more

I can never remember how often to water them, and even when I do know, I contstantly forget when I watered them last. Well, not anymore. This moisture meter lets me measure when the dirt is dry enough to water again, which is very handy, considering that my different plants in their different-sized pots all drink water at varying rates. Water meter related help/definitions

Attic access - An opening that is placed in the drywalled ceiling of a home providing access to the attic.

Beam - A structural member transversely supporting a load. A structural member carrying building loads (weight) from one support to another. Sometimes called a "girder".

Conventional loan A mortgage loan not insured by a government agency (such as FHA or VA)

Grade - Ground level, or the elevation at any given point.

Sill cock - An exterior water faucet (hose bib).

Slab, door - A rectangular door without hinges or frame.
